Our Journey

From Loom to Legacy

Founded in 2012, Silkpea began as a small atelier in a converted barn, driven by a passion for reviving hand-loom techniques. The first collection featured only twelve scarves, each dyed with botanical pigments sourced from local farms.

By 2015, we had established a dedicated material research lab, experimenting with organic cotton blends and low-impact dyes. This led to our first major breakthrough: a fabric that combined durability with a soft, matte finish, now used in over 60% of our products.

In 2019, Silkpea launched its structured product grid system, organizing collections by fabrication method and material specification. This innovation streamlined our design process and allowed us to scale sustainably, reaching 15,000 artisans and 200 retail partners globally.

Today, our documentation library houses over 1,200 textile production guides, and our annual Design Forum attracts material scientists and weavers from 30 countries. We remain committed to transparency, craftsmanship, and the quiet beauty of natural materials.
